Trust ~ Aprille Canniff

This book is a first for Canniff. She comprised the story while she was in Afghanistan, which I think is cool. I liked the premise of the story. A task force is put together made of elite law enforcement officers and their leader is a Master Sergeant in the military. The two main characters, a police officer and the sergeant, are immediately attracted to each other. This happens before the two know that they will be on the same task force. There’s one problem, the sergeant does not get involved with people on her team.
I liked this book. Aprille did a great job of laying out the intrigue of the case the task force was being trained to investigate. I would have liked to have had more than one sex scene. When I read a story that has a lot of build up for the premise (training and investigation of the bad guys), I want build up for the characters as well. I think a bit more back story on the cop would have been good. We know she lost her love and that she closed herself off. We don’t really see her struggle to let go of her first love. She moves too easily into a relationship with the sergeant.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more of her books. I think a sequel to this one might be fun. Perhaps we can get a bit more backstory and angst for the characters relationship. If you want to read this book, select the link Trust.
