This is book two of the Lone Star Law series written by Taite. The first book is Lay Down the Law. You don’t need to read the first book, but if you’re like me you want to see the big picture. The first book introduces you to two of the sub-characters in this book. The book also continues the case that was started in the first. I’m a sucker for good gal vs. bad gal book and Taite does a good job and taking you into a case centered around the state prosecutor and an agent in the DEA.

As I mentioned the first book introduces you to the state prosecutor and her love interest. This book focuses on the DEA agent and her love interest, a journalist. I’ve talked about the notion of love at first sight or soul connection before and this book explores the soul connection. DEA agent is still mourning her wife who was killed by a drug cartel, meets the journalist and has an immediate attraction. The journalist is drawn to the DEA agent immediately but they both have a job to do which doesn’t include them hooking up.
