The story is set ten years in the future from the novella. The main character is in her thirties now and is a practicing Veterinarian. She still visits her Dad’s ranch and helps out as much as she can. The reporter is no longer part of her life because she is traveling the world reporting on the news.

What I really liked about these two stories is I was able to get the full picture of how the two women got together, which is described in the novella. The novel takes it to the next level with their break-up and dating other women. There is of course, angst and a bit where one of the characters gets hurt, helping the other realize she doesn’t want to be without the other.
