Lilac Time ~ Kate Sweeney

Published July 2017 ~ Intaglio Publications

Sweeney certainly has a way with characters. This book is about two women who fall in love, but the supporting characters add depth to the story. A woman with two teenage children goes to work with a professor, who is putting together a manual, as her assistant. The attraction between the two women is not instantaneous but doesn’t drag on either. The kids of the assistant are the characters that are the most fun. A loving son who cares deeply for his mother and sister. A daughter who is precocious and full of antics.

Sex is alluded to in the book, but is not explicit. You know me, I like sex, but Sweeney more than makes up for the lack of sex with her story. The novel is a fun read and I laughed out loud in a few places. I even bought the sequel, Autumn Waltz, because I loved the characters so much.
