The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax ~ Dorothy Gillman

Published January 2014 ~ Random House

As I mentioned when I introduced my blog, I was going to throw in other books beside lesbian romance and this is one of them. This is one of my favorite books that I read last year besides all the book in the lesbian romance genre. The book is set in the fifties or sixties and the main character is a woman who is widowed and feels as if she is wasting away. She was a good wife and mother, but she wants more out of life. So she decides she wants to be a spy and offers her services to the CIA.

Through mistaken identity, she gets her wish and is sent down to Mexico on a mission. Needless to say, she takes Mexico by storm and I have never laughed out loud at a character as much as I did with Mrs. Pollifax. Gillman has written a gem of a book, which is part of a series of fourteen books at this point. I hope you want to read this book as I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, select the link The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax.
