Essex creates a fun story about a woman who thinks she’s going to die, when she is saved by a wolf. I like the way Essex describes the darkness that approaches when the main character is about to be killed. The wolf happens to be a Werewolf and has been sent to keep the main character safe from harm. The premise of the story reminds me of The Terminator where the soldier says “Come with me if you want to live” and the fact that he fell in love with Sarah Conner in the future just like the werewolf seems to have an affection for the woman. The Werewolf also glows silver like the vampires in the Twilight movies. It’s not over the top so I wasn’t distracted by the references intentional or not.
The antagonist did get her comeuppance in the story and I was glad. I think there could have been a bit more time spent on getting the backstory of the werewolf community. Essex did give us good information on the background of the werewolf, but I don’t think we got enough information about the main character perhaps more background on who she was and what she did in the present. Maybe explore more scenes that would indicate the woman saved was different from everyone else. If you want to read this story, select the link Wild Hearts.
