Wildsky ~ Magnolia Robbins

Published April 2018 ~ Amazon

I read this book. Honestly, I forgot I read it so I listened to it on Audible. The underlying message of this story is focused on mental health and how anxiety can debilitate a person. Robbins doesn’t push an agenda, which I liked. She is subtle in the main characters problem with anxiety. I can’t say I love the narrator’s voice because she makes one of the characters sound like a baby, but I do like the story. I’m a sucker for characters who fall in love in high school, separate for years, and then come back together. Set in a small town in Canada, the two characters have been separated for over six years. One character goes to the states to go to college to return home because she doesn’t want to admit she misses the love of her life and that she can’t cope with the anxiety of being away from home. The other character stays in the small town, but is somewhat closeted because her father is a minister.

I like the way Robbins tells the story. As a reader, you get a point of view from each character. I’m doing the same thing with the current book I’m working on. I like to get into each characters head and feel what they are feeling. In this story, you get to feel the rekindled love of both characters, one who wants to show that she loves the other one. The other afraid to be out because she still lives in the town. If you want to read this novel, select the link Wildsky.
